The Godfather of Graffiti

SEEN from the bronx who has been Bombing since the 70's is considered the Godfather of Graffiti. I actually first heard of him in 1999 when I was going to Parsons School Of Design. I went to postmans which was a book store directly underneath Parsons. I was supposed to buy books that were only on my list but I had to get that one. It was a book on the history of graffiti. I forget the name but when I know it I will jot it down here. In 1985 he bombed the infamous Hollywood sign in California. That really to his craft to another level cause it made people not only from the bronx but people from all over the US to show him some respect. Today he was able to transform what he did for fun into business. Staying true to his roots he still puts alot of his influence in his work. My dream is to just talk with him one day. He is one of the last people who I admire that is presently living. Please show some respect for this man he has truly paved the way.

Remember BIG PUN

Big Pun was truly an inspiration for hip hop fans of all color. This dude knew who to put words together in a combination that was ridiculous. His music could make laugh, think, and dance. I used to listen to Pun music everday. He was the soundtrack to my life at one time. Anything I did or anywhere I went I listened to Big Pun. It was like he made me apperciate rap music all over again. With his clever punch lines it always keeped me on my toes. I was always pressing rewind to hear every single word he said. I just wish he was still here so we could enjoy more of his sounds today. When I first heard I'm not a player it reminded me alot of biggie. " Bumpin' and grindin', Simultaneously want it, climbing up the walls, With my balls bangin' off your hymen". "Cannibalism is livin in my metabolism Givin em spasms and aneurisms at baby baptisms" I miss his ass, he truly was the man. For my BIG PUN stuff click on his name.

Americorps

A friend of mine recently became a member of Americorps. When she mentioned it to me I thought it was something like the army. My opinion on Donald Rumsfeld is a bad one so I was like kinda taken back by that. Then I looked into what Americorps really is and it got nothing to do with the army. That just shows us how we assume beore we look into things. I am a firm believer in research, you shouldn't judge something if you don't know anything about it. Americorps is actually a good program for us young americans to look into. Most of us are at the bottom of the barrell. We have no power, we don't own anything, we owe everyone, and we are broke. The program Americorps is a network of local, state, and national service programs that connects more than 70,000 Americans each year in intensive service to meet our country’s critical needs in education, public safety, health, and the environment. members serve with more than 3,000 nonprofits, public agencies, and faith-based and community organizations. Since 1994, more than 400,000 men and women have provided needed assistance to millions of Americans across the nation through their Americorps service. Americorps opens the door for citizens to serve in a variety of ways. Through their direct service and the volunteers they mobilize, Americorps members address critical needs in communities throughout America. It's something us young bloods should consider. Many members receive a modest living allowance. You will not get rich from it, but most Americorps members have found that it covers their basic expenses. The biggest benefit you will experience when you join Americorps is the satisfaction of incorporating service into your life and making a difference in your community and your country. But there are other benefits as well. Whether you are tutoring kids, building homes, clearing trails and streams, mobilizing resources to create a local health clinic, or participating in any of the hundreds of other goal-oriented Americorps projects, you will be able to really see the results of your work and know you made a difference. I'm even thinking about joining I like working for my community.

Hispanic Heritage Month Sept. 15th-Oct. 15th

Many Hispanic Americans trace their roots to the cultures of the indigenous peoples of the Americas -- including the Arawaks (Puerto Rico), the Aztecs (Mexico), the Incas (South America), the Maya (Central America), and the Tainos (in Cuba, Puerto Rico and other places). Some trace their roots to the Spanish explorers -- who in the 1400s set out to find an easier and less costly way to trade with the Indies. Other Latinos trace their roots to the Africans who were brought as slaves to the New World. For purposes of the U.S. Census, Hispanic Heritage Month was Sept. to Oct. 15th. Isn't that a weird time frame? I thought it was in October cause I went to the parade one time. This is a touchy subject with me cause I feel that we shouldn't dedicate a certain time frame to celebrate or recognize a certain group of people. I mean they don't celebrate White Angol Saxon Month so why us minorities? We should be recoginzing and celebrating being Hispanic/Latino every single day for the rest of our lives. Today, according to the U.S. Census Bureau, more than 41 million people in the United States are of Hispanic origin. That's about 14 percent of us! We need to be aware of our status and our role in the United States. If u don't agree or if you do agree you can always comment. Click the links to get more info about this topic. Tourist Sent To The Moon in 2008

I was browsing through my collections of AM NY, I was looking for this Ad for discount silkscreen shirts. Instead I came across this Article that I totally forgot about. In 2008 or '09 are the years planned as a stepping stone to an eventual lunar landing by private citizens. Or should I say the Elite! Produced by the same company that pioneered commercial space travel by sending tourists up to the International Space Station. Only 27 people have ever made such a journey to the moon. The intial travelers would be the first to orbit the moon in more than 33 years. The trip, aboard a modified Russian spacecraft, will offer the chance to see the Earth rise from lunar orbit and a view of the far side of the moon from an altitude of 62 miles. Could you imagine? Cause most of us will only have to. The cost of the this trip? You guess it, $100 Million. CEO Eric Anderson from Space Adventures, (I got his highschool photo) said at a NY press conference; "For the first time in history, a private comany is organizing a mission to the moon." "This mission will inspire countriesof the world, citizens and our youth." I think it's pretty cool that we can now go to the moon for vacation but shit man we gotta fix something on earth first. Besides only the Elite can go which beniefts only the Elite. What do you think? Post you comments!!

Baby Genetic Disorders

According to an article I read some time ago in the AM NY paper Infants born in the US are not being consistently screened for 29 serious but treatable genetic disorders. The report which come from the March Of Dimes found 23 states that screened for 20 or more of the conditions, 12 states that tested for 10 to 20, and 15 states plus the District Of Comlumbia that screened for less than 10. Now is it just me or is there some type of underlining message here. The government State & Federal doesn't care about it's people!!! Now the report goes on to say that NY state currently test for 44 conditions, going beyond the recommended 29. Only eight states(including NY) screen for cystic fibrosis, one of the most common genetic disorders in the US. That the stars I live in NY.

Jessica Simpson Nick Lachey Simpson

Ok I realized that everytime I post up something that really doesn't go along with what I think should be on this site ( important serious stuff ) more people come to my blog. I guess I shouldn't be too serious but I feel that during these times we should pay attention to the world around us instead of the world in our TV set. In anycase I plan to put up more of today's serious news along with today's entertaining news. Plus my views, lets not forget about that. Nick Lachey and Jessica Simpson are taking a break? lol I can't believe that! So I decided to post up a picture of them fighting over their peoples choice award. Enjoy!

Che Guevara

This man is my inspiration let me tell ya. Originally from Argentina Ernesto Guevara was a Revolutionary individual. Helping Fidel Castro start the Revolution in Cuba against President Batista and the rich corporation from the US. Many people believe this man was a terrorist. But then again many people don't do their research. Click the Che to get more info

Career on the rise

I came across this article in the Metro NY paper a few weeks ago that talks about Pharmaceutical Sales Reps as being a new career to consider in the US. According to the article Pharmaceutical Sales Reps can make from $45-65k per year and beyond. All you have to do is meet with doctors daily and describe to them the virtues of their product which are pills. Like we don't have enough medication in our cabinets. Don't you think that sounds crazy? Do we honestly need someone to espouse the virtues of their products and convince the doctors to prescribe it to us the patients? The doctors should know what's best for us he's the doctor! That's why he makes the big bucks. This really puts things in prespective for me. What do you think?
